This challenge is a little different as there's no specific tutorial to follow although there are many tutorials on blending two or more images into a single image which is the definition of compositing.. What this challenge is about is finding and combining two or more images to create a surreal result - in other words creating a resulting image that isn't natural. Anything goes from flying elephants to people riding on the back of a snail. I can remember 20 years ago with my first Photoshop Elements (PSE3) trying to figure out how to use layers and (thanks to Grant's Tools) layer masks to put a giant spider on the side of a house for a friend who hates spiders! I'm sure you get the surreal idea and you can find many examples in, for example, the weekly Endless Possibilities Challenge or take a look at the portfolio of Luisa Azevedo Here's my version of a similar one I ran across - both the images were from Unsplash and they were combined with layers, layer masks and I used a luminosity blend mode to give a better matching of the tones in the two images I started with.
And staying with the Olympic theme here's another. Orange, basketball and player all from Pixabay. The idea for this one came from a Photoshop Masterclass called, you guessed it, Surreal Compositing
Have some fun and looking forward to seeing what weird things you can come up with! Tony
